WHO WE ARE
Rivermont Baptist Church
has a unique blend in our worship and ministry. With a beautiful mixture of both younger and older members, there are numerous ways in which we reach out to persons
of all ages. We are a local Southern Baptist Church, which means we are not under any kind of hierarchical system of government. Rather, our involvement in the Southern Baptist Convention, the State Baptist Convention
of North Carolina, and the Neuse Baptist Association is a commitment to cooperative missions.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
1. There is one God who
reveals Himself in three distinct persons: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. (John 1:1-3 & 1:14)
2. The Bible is the inspired
word of God and is The sole authority for our faith, our doctrine, and our way of life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
3. Salvation (the forgiveness
of sin) comes Only by God's loving grace through the individual's faith in Him. It
is a matter of what Christ has done for us on the cross and not what we can do for ourselves.
We can only respond to God's love by turning from our sins and turning to God. (Acts 3:18, Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9)
4. Every Believer has access
to God through Jesus Christ. (1 Timothy 2:5-6, 1 Peter 2:9)
WORSHIP
Rivermont provides opportunities
for community Worship every Sunday at 11:00 A.M. and at 6:00 P.M. Our services
of worship are meant to be times of celebration and praise. Together we sing
praises to our God most high. Together we look to the Lord of life and receive
instruction from His word - the Bible. Our focus is on God and our aim is to
glorify Him. The Bible reminds us not to give up meeting together for worship
(Hebrews 10:25). Although we have a certain time for community worship, we encourage
private worship for all Believers.
DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING
Through in-depth Bible studies,
you will be guided by the Holy Spirit to have a day-to-day relationship with God. There
are times when we have more than one study offered. Examples are: Prayer, Worship,
Sharing the Good News, Gifts, and How to Study Your Bible. Wise is the Christian
who from time to time evaluates what motivates them to worship God. If we are
not eager to obey what God asks us to do, we are not ready to worship. As a worshipper
of God, we will not be satisfied with reading or hearing from God's word only one day a week, but will want to meditate on
it daily.
BIBLE STUDY &
PRAYER SERVICE
Each Wednesday at 7:00 P.M.,
people meet to share
prayer concerns and to pray
on behalf of these needs and to share words of praise and thanksgiving. Everyone
is encouraged to pray silently, and those who feel need to do so pray aloud. Every
believer is encouraged to pray daily and to spend time alone with God. (Matthew 6:6)
MUSIC AND DRAMA
Rivermont has an Adult and
Children's Choir. In addition, we also feature a "Southern Gospel" style quartet
plus various soloists, duets, and trios. Volunteers are always welcome to participate
in the music ministry of the church. Each Easter and Christmas, the Choirs conduct cantatas appropriate for the season. Also,
each Christmas we have a drama production involving a variety of age groups.
FELLOWSHIP
Fellowship is a regular part of Church life at Rivermont.
Several times a year, we have church-wide socials and special events. From
"potluck" suppers to skating parties, we enjoy spending time together as a family of faith.
In addition to these church-wide events, individual Bible study classes sometimes meet to fellowship and enjoy a time
of Christian fun and festivities.
